Linxon wins turnkey contract to strengthen Sweden’s transmission grid
Linxon has signed a contract with Svenska kraftnät to construct a new 400 kV substation, which includes a partial renewal of the existing 400 kV substation in Hamra, located in Enköping municipality.
Svenska kraftnät plans to build two new transmission lines that will connect to the existing substation in Hamra, necessitating the expansion with additional line bays. The new infrastructure will consist of two 400 kV substations: a new 6-bay greenfield 400 kV substation in a double breaker scheme will be constructed adjacent to the existing substation, which will undergo partial renewal to ensure ongoing operational reliability.
The project is a turnkey contract, including all civil and construction works, 400 kV switchgear, new control buildings, auxiliary power systems, and transmission line connections to the new substation.
Construction is set to begin later this year, with the new substation scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. The partial renewal of the existing substation will be finalized in 2030.
This project is part of the investment program NordSyd. It aims to renew and reinforce the transmission grid between the electricity price areas SE2 and SE3 through Svenska kraftnät’s largest investment initiative to date, which is vital for Sweden’s energy transition. The NordSyd investment program includes four transmission corridors, with the Hamra station forming part of the Västerås corridor.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to deliver another major project to Svenska kraftnät. This project exemplifies how Linxon contributes to strengthening Sweden’s electrical backbone. We are proud to help accelerate the energy transition by delivering modern, future-proof infrastructure that meets both current demand and tomorrow’s challenge.” Angel Guijarro, Managing Director of Linxon in Europe
