The Commercial Policy & Assurance Manager ensures that robust commercial governance and assurance activities are in place across the organisation. The role drives operational compliance with internal policies, external regulations, statutory requirements, and government initiatives. Working closely with key stakeholders and process owners, the role ensures that commercial processes are aligned, efficient, and supportive of wider business objectives.

Job Responsibilities

Policy Development & Governance

  • Develop, manage, and maintain a comprehensive framework of commercial policies and procedures to support all commercial functions.
  • Own and maintain commercial templates across the full procurement and commercial lifecycle, including standardised terms and conditions and core documentation.
  • Promote and ensure compliance with internal management systems, statutory obligations, regulatory requirements, and government policy.

Assurance & Compliance

  • Maintain detailed awareness of Commercial Policy, Commercial Playbooks, and government guidance, ensuring these are reflected in company policy and embedded in commercial and sourcing strategies.
  • Develop, manage, and lead assurance activities across the commercial function, major procurements, and relevant business cases.
  • Provide oversight to ensure commercial activities are delivered consistently, effectively, and in line with best practice.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and process owners to ensure commercial processes complement and align with wider business needs.
  • Support cross‑functional collaboration to drive consistency, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Leadership & Capability Development

  • Provide development plans for direct reports and ensure access to appropriate training to maintain capability and enhance employee experience.
  • Support the continuous improvement of commercial standards, tools, and processes.
