The Procurement Business Partner provides authoritative strategic and operational commercial advice to support project delivery and strengthen the organisation’s supply chain. The role ensures that effective tracking, intelligence, and supplier‑management systems are in place to manage strategic suppliers and drive value for money. Acting as a trusted advisor, the Procurement Business Partner works closely with senior stakeholders to shape procurement strategies, influence decision‑making, and ensure compliance with procurement policy.

Job Responsibilities

Category & Procurement Management

  • Manage multiple categories of indirect expenditure as allocated by the Head of Commercial and Procurement.
  • Lead a diverse range of end‑to‑end procurement projects across all indirect categories to maximise value for money.
  • Maintain oversight of procurement activity to ensure alignment with organisational priorities and compliance requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement & Business Partnering

  • Influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders up to Director level.
  • Act as a business partner to a designated directorate, providing challenge, insight, and solutions to support delivery and identify opportunities.
  • Facilitate meetings with stakeholders and suppliers, including scope clarification sessions and market engagement events.

Data, Insight & Strategy Development

  • Work with the Procurement Analyst to analyse spend and contract data, informing sourcing strategies and alternative delivery options (e.g., internal delivery, recruitment, grants).
  • Develop and analyse procurement management information to improve business intelligence and support commercial decision‑making.
  • Manage procurement systems to produce key performance information and prepare reports or presentations when required.

Governance, Compliance & Authorisation

  • Ensure procurement activity complies with procurement policy, governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
  • Authorise financial information, including Purchase Orders and new supplier approvals.
  • Support the development of supply chain capability and ensure strategic suppliers are effectively monitored and managed.

Continuous Improvement & Capability Building

  • Contribute to the development of procurement strategies that enhance organisational performance.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and training to junior members of the Sourcing Team and colleagues across the wider business.
  • Promote best practice procurement approaches and support continuous improvement initiatives.
