Thermal Insulation Engineers are responsible for safely and competently carrying out insulation tasks in line with training, skills, and project specifications. The role requires a solid understanding of thermal insulation principles—both theoretical and practical—and the ability to apply industry standards to deliver high‑quality work across a range of environments.

Job Responsibilities

Installation & Application

  • Work in accordance with insulation standards, specifications, and approved plans of work.
  • Install insulation materials using appropriate methods such as clips, adhesives, and tapes to ensure secure and effective application.
  • Select the correct insulation materials and finishes for different applications and changing operational environments.
  • Remove and re‑apply insulation materials and finishes in compliance with BS 5970:2012 and client procedures.

Technical Competence

  • Read and understand method statements and risk assessments to carry out tasks safely and correctly.
  • Demonstrate competent use of tools and equipment, ensuring they are properly maintained.
  • Measure, fabricate, and fit cladding as required.
  • Perform stripping, refitting, and metalwork forming to industry standards.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Identify and escalate any significant health and safety risks, reporting defects or concerns to Supervisors and safety teams.
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and ensure compliance across work activities.
  • Participate actively in pre‑job briefings and maintain effective communication with the team.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards, ensuring work areas remain clean and organised.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, and near misses immediately to the Site Supervisor or Site Manager.

Professional Conduct

  • Follow instructions from Supervisors and carry out tasks with professionalism and attention to detail.
